Hello, it’s Adele!
Suddenly, it seems a heck of a lot more likely that the British singer’s new album will be out this fall. What appears to be a 30-second preview of Adele’s latest tune aired during a commercial break on The X Factor Sunday night in the U.K.
“I was wondering if after all these years, you’d like to meet to go over everything,” the vocals go, as lyrics roll over a black background. “They say that time’s supposed to heal ya, but I ain’t done much healing.” The snippet ends with ellipses.
Last month, rumor had it that Sony would release Adele’s next album Nov. 20, a release date that conveniently opened up. (One Direction’s Made In the A.M. album hastily moved off that date to Nov. 13.) Adele’s most recent album, 2011’s 21, sold more than 11 million copies in the U.S. alone.
The singer’s representative declined comment, but Adele, for her part, is saying nothing: She hasn’t tweeted since August.
